In the heart of Budapest, a new space dedicated entirely to immersive digital art has opened its doors, introducing a different way of experiencing contemporary audiovisual culture in the Hungarian capital. Developed by Cinema Mystica, the venue expands the group’s ongoing exploration of interactive environments, projection-based installations, and experimental storytelling through technology.
The new exhibition space is located inside Párisi Passage, one of the city’s most recognizable architectural interiors. The setting hosts twenty-one installations combining digital projections, interactive environments, 3D-printed sculptures, short films, and responsive audiovisual works. Visitors move through a sequence of spaces designed to engage perception through light, movement, sound, and spatial immersion rather than through conventional static display formats.

Cinema Mystica first attracted wider attention in 2022 with an exhibition presented at the Kristály Theater on Margaret Island. The new permanent venue represents a larger step toward establishing immersive media art as a visible part of Hungary’s cultural landscape. The creators describe the initiative as an ongoing platform intended to evolve continuously, with a completely new exhibition planned every six months.
Alongside showcasing the collective’s own productions, the project aims to introduce emerging new media artists from Hungary and across Central and Eastern Europe to broader audiences. By opening the space to regional experimentation in digital culture, the initiative creates opportunities for collaboration between artists working with sound design, generative visuals, interactive systems, animation, and expanded cinematic forms.

The inaugural exhibition for this year centers on the relationship between sacredness and digital art. Through immersive environments and sensory installations, the project examines whether technology can communicate spiritual ideas and emotional depth beyond purely functional or entertainment-oriented uses. Rather than offering direct answers, the exhibition invites visitors into spaces where digital imagery, sound, and atmosphere become tools for contemplation and emotional response.
With this new venue, Cinema Mystica positions immersive art not as a temporary spectacle, but as a developing artistic language capable of reshaping how audiences interact with contemporary culture and technological expression.
