Type 0 Leaves the Mouse’s Construction in Plain Sight

Type 0 has no interest in hiding how it was made.

The aluminium mouse concept exposes its screws and construction details, allowing the mechanics to become part of the object rather than something concealed beneath a polished exterior. Its body appears carved from a single block of metal, with softened curves running through an otherwise precise geometric volume.

The shape is restrained, almost severe, yet the aluminium keeps it from feeling anonymous. Its surface carries the weight of the material instead of trying to disguise it, while the rounded edges make the object comfortable enough to spend hours holding.

At the centre, a circular element replaces the familiar arrangement of left and right buttons with a more deliberate visual gesture. A small textured scroll wheel sits within it, introducing a different surface and a point of tactile resistance against the smooth aluminium.

Nothing about the layout feels accidental. The familiar anatomy of a computer mouse has been reduced to a few clearly defined elements, each given its own place within the body.

Type 0 draws from the visual discipline associated with Apple and Teenage Engineering, two names known for treating precision as part of the aesthetic rather than something that exists only for engineering purposes.

The result is a mouse that makes its own construction part of the experience. The screws remain visible. The joints remain legible. The material stays honest.

Type 0 looks finished without pretending it was never assembled.
